Day 13 brings G.I. Joe’s top sailor, Shipwreck! Today also concluded Fleet Week here in the San Francisco Bay Area. So thought it would be fitting to commemorate the day with a depiction of this naval officer. Here’s Shipwreck getting a cracker to give to his pet parrot, Polly.

Varied my approach to texturing in this one. Left more flecks of light open in Shipwreck’s hair and Polly’s feathers. I used two colors in his face – one for the shadows and another lighter color for the rendering marks. Lastly, for his cap, I used a black sharpie that’s running out of ink to quickly drybrush the shadow areas to give a gray color value.
