More sketchbomb-sf sketches! Here is the first sketch of the night from the June 30th session. The theme was “The Ulimate Pet”.

One thing that I’ve learned from these timed-sketches is to not overthink the selection. More often than not, my first reaction is the one I should go with because it’s the one I most associate with the theme. So when I heard “pet”, the first thing I thought of was a dragon. Yes, I did love How To Train Your Dragon, but the Dragon is also my Chinese zodiac birth animal. Thus, I’ve always had an affinity for dragons. So I went with it and started to draw a dragon. Somewhere while I was drawing it, I pictured my dragon being a happy creature with human-like expressions and being able to talk. And since we’re talking “Ultimate” pet, I decided I’d also like my pet to be able to forsee the future and give me winning lotto numbers. 😛
