Here’s a comic book page advertisement I made for REVIVAL, the new series by Tim Seeley (HACK/SLASH) and Mike Norton (IT GIRL AND THE ATOMICS, BATTLEPUG, RUNAWAYS).

When I was making this ad, I only had the cover art to use, so I just played with what I had available. The image was already compositionally interesting, so I didn’t make any major changes there. I zoomed in a little tighter on the main figure and pushed the character to the right just a bit more to create some tension along the edge. I added blue to the overall image to give it a colder feel. I also added some black to the lower right corner, again to give a darker feel and also to try to push the viewer’s eye back towards the center of the ad. I kept the solication text aligned center, but to the left side of the ad, creating “two halves” to the art — the text on the left and the imagery on the right. Lastly, I kept all the text the same salmon color that was already established in the book’s logo.
