Happy New Year! Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and ended 2011 on a good note. 🙂

Today’s post is my last drawing of 2011. Every once in a while, while I’m combing through the Sunday paper’s advertisements, I’ll stumble upon some fashion advertisement of somebody wearing something and I’ll want to draw it. This time, it was an advertisement for winter wear going on sale. Something about the compilation of the scarf, hat, coat, and the pose just struck me. So, I did my rendition of it with a few minor changes.

Whenever I do these inspired sketches, I never try to exactly copy what I see in the ad. I tried to find those elements that drew me to it and I do my take on it. On top of that, I try to experiment and learn new techniques. This time, I experimented with how I colored the coat and jeans, giving them some texture.
