I saw a striking picture of a girl pausing in the doorway in the morning. The image stuck in my head and I wanted to attempt a drawing capturing a similar image with the same feeling behind it. I realized that part of that feeling was the glow of the morning light. So once my linework was done, I threw it into Photoshop for a minute to add that soft glow around her face.

I also had just gotten some new pens and was breaking them in while also experimenting a little bit with how I render things. There was a point while doing this drawing that I would have normally stopped. But in a conscious effort to experiment, I pushed past that point. For most people, it won’t be noticable. For me, it’s totally noticable.
