Day One of my favorite Grand Slam: The US Open! In honor of their 50th anniversary, the tournament is highlighting top moments in their history and I wanted to share my favorite. And it’s quite possibly my favorite moment in tennis history: Jimmy Conners in 1991!
-Ranked 174 in the world
-Recovering from wrist surgery
-Turning 39 during the tournament
-Needing a wildcard to get in
-Down 2 sets, 0-3 and love-40 to Patrick McEnroe before coming back to win
-Upsetting 10th seed Karl Novacek
-Defeating Aaron Krickstein in a 5-set all-time iconic match
-Reaching the semifinals!
